After thinking it over, consulting with a few people, and doing some research, I have decided that I am going to print the petition and submit it to the presiding judge in the Belk case after all. In spite of what the "armchair attorney" had to say, this is perfectly legal and acceptable. It is actually a common practice for judges and DA's to accept petitions. This does not affect the outcome of the case as to whether she is found guilty or not guilty. It will only come into play (if it does at all) during sentencing. I will be drafting a letter asking that Ms. Belk get the maximum sentence, if not in jail then in a mental health care facility. After all, part of the petition is that she is "prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law." The maximum sentence in this case is one year in jail or a mental facility. This is not up for debate, but I do understand why some of you may not want your name submitted to the judge. I believe you can go in and remove your name from the petition. If you have trouble doing this, please message me. I will happily remove your name from the petition with no questions asked. I will be printing this petition next Wednesday, February 24th at around 12pm Eastern Time. Please let me know before then if you want your name removed. Also if you would like to share this petition, please do so before then. Once again, I will not be engaging in debate about sending this petition. I will be sharing the full text of the letter here once I have it drafted. Never forget about the animals that this woman cruelly killed. She watched 25 pets in her "care" die slow painful deaths, and ignored their cries for help. THAT is why we are here doing what we are doing. Thank you again for all you do. Sharon
