Anyone who wishes to contact the Tazewell County Courts regarding this case, I am providing the following information: Presiding Judge Tazewell County Courthouse 342 Court Street Pekin, IL 61554 Phone # (309) 477-2203 There is an "armchair attorney" on here who would have you believe that it is illegal to contact the judge, because of "jury tampering" or whatever. Here are the facts: First of all, this case will NEVER see a jury. It is a misdemeanor. It is punishable by probation to up to a year in jail. It is also highly improbable that Ms. Belk will ever see the inside of a jail cell. The best we can really hope for is that the judge mandates time in a mental institution, and an order not to have companion animals ever again. Due to her age and her health, Peggy will likely get a slap on the wrist. That is the fact. Another fact: It is NOT illegal to call or write the DA or judge to state your opinion on an ongoing case. That is the freedom of speech that we have in this country. It is illegal to try to sway the judge by bribery, etc. Simply writing a letter is NOT illegal. That being said, the "armchair attorney" did have a good point. Sending the judge a document with 3000 signatures is unlikely to do any good. That is why I am providing this information, for anyone who wishes to follow up. I appreciate every single one of you who have called, emailed, and made sure that Cora/Peggy receives justice for what she did to those animals. Locking animals in a cage just to slowly watch them die time and time again is not ok. These animals had no choice in the matter. They are the victims here, NOT Cora Belk. Never forget that. This petition will remain open until this monster is sentenced, and everything is done on the case. The facebook page will remain open indefinitely. Once this case is over, the page will be dedicated to helping other animals that need saving. https://www.facebook.com/justiceforpekin25/?ref=aymt_homepage_panel We are their voice, and you guys are all heroes! Thanks again, and never stop fighting for our voiceless friends. Sharon
