Howdy!

Over the past couple of months, I've been overwhelmed by the enthusiasm that Calgarians have expressed around re-imagining 17th Ave to be a place which prioritizes people.

Recently, the Beltline Neighbourhood Association has picked up the torch to continue advocacy and engagement. Today, they've launched their 17th Ave Open Streets resident and business survey.

You can find that survey here: https://www.beltlineyyc.ca/17_ave_open_street

The survey is an important step in the planning of the Open Streets pilot, which we hope to launch in the summer of 2025.

Your response will be a critical data point as we continue to engage with the city, businesses, and other relevant stakeholders.

Please complete the survey when you get a chance and share it widely with your network.

Additionally, communicating to businesses the enthusiasm that their customers feel for Open Streets is a critical part of this advocacy. When shopping and dining, I encourage you to chat with business representatives about how you support the pilot. You would be stunned by how much a couple of positive customer interactions can sway the opinions of business owners.

Finally, the Beltline Neighbourhoods Association will have a table at Lilac Festival this Sunday, June 2nd. Please do come say hi. I'd love to chat with some of the amazing people who have made all this possible.

Best,
Chris Chiasson
