Pay care homes sufficient money to cover the actual cost of care.

The Issue

The Health & Social Care sector is in crisis due to lack of funds from the government.

The rise in the cost of living, impacting food costs and utility bills along with unsustainable levels of staff shortages and-poor retention of staff due to poor pay, is forcing care homes to close their doors.

Although the government has promised more money for Health and Social Care again and again no additional moneyis forthcoming to address these issues.

Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council, have also said, they have not received sufficient additional funding from the government and therefore the Council has no money to pay the additional costs requested by Care Homes!’

Two studies have been carried out locally that shows theGovernment is underfunding care Home fees by some 15% despite the new fees set for 2023-2024.

Care Homes need to be paid fees which will allow them to reimburse what they are spending to survive. Not to do so will force home closures. Some homes have already had to close their doors.

Our most vulnerable are and will be forced out of their Care Home.

Our most vulnerable residents of Redcar and Cleveland will not find Care when they most need it.

Together with your help we need to make a stand to bring about change to avoid the care sector collapsing.

In every age there is a cause worth fighting for! This is the cause.

We ask of the Government:

• Allow us to pay the staff well for a dedicated, difficult job.

• Allow us to provide high standard of care that all out loved ones deserve.

• Allow us to pay our bills and keep Care Homes open.
