Pave the Path

The Issue

Every morning, school-age kids, including my own, use the pathway between Freemont Hill Court in Jamison Farms and Red Oak Court in Lake Whippoorwhill to get to the school bus stop. However, they often arrive at the stop with shoes soaked from dew-covered grass and mud, not to mention the pathway isn't mowed regularly, making the trek quite challenging. For those of us who enjoy a good exercise, riding a bike through this area is a workout in itself, but it's marred by the uneven terrain, bumps, and occasional muddy patches.

The Jamison Farm Trail serves as a vital link between our communities, connecting Jamison Farms with Lake Whippoorwhill. Yet, without a paved path, our children, pets, and everyone in between are limited in their use of this connection. A paved pathway would not only allow for a cleaner, drier journey for pedestrians, but it would also encourage more cycling, roller skating, and even wheelchair accessibility. With a smoother, safer pathway, our community's connectivity with each other and nature would flourish.

Pavement would facilitate year-round use, providing consistent access no matter the weather. Although the trail is wide enough for connection of the roads themselves, we are just requesting a paved, narrow trail.

We ask Fauquier Parks & Recreation to take action and invest in paving the Jamison Farm Trail path. This update will directly benefit the quality of life for both Jamison Farms and Lake Whippoorwhill residents. Join us in advocating for this change that will enhance our community's well-being and connectivity. Please sign this petition to show your support for a better path for every step and wheel in our community!
