I wasn’t supposed to live. I was days, maybe hours, away from being euthanized. I was isolated from all the other dogs, put in a small cage and labelled as “aggressive” because I was reactive towards humans. But this was out of fear. Fear does strange things to anyone who’s been hurt and cornered. But then two people saw me, not as a label, nor my behaviour. They saw Me. They adopted me and through their love, I became what I always had been inside; a gentle soul.

But, this message isn’t about me. I’m just one dog who was lucky to find a family and loving home. This is about the millions who didn’t and still haven’t. And even more, it’s about how animals have been quietly saving humans for centuries…while humans still struggle to truly care for us in return.

We’ve stood by you through every chapter of your story.

We have dug through rubble in the wake of disasters like 9/11, risking everything to find life in devastation. We guide the blind, alert the deaf, predict seizures, soothe trauma. We walk through hospital corridors and war veteran homes, offering something science struggles to replicate, unconditional presence.

War dogs like Chips, the most decorated canine of WWII, charged enemy lines to protect human lives, not knowing sides or politics, just duty and devotion.

And it’s not just heroic tales. It's the small, daily acts of emotional rescue: the lonely man or woman who finds purpose in morning walks, the grieving child who feels safe again, the soldier returning home who sleeps for the first time without nightmares, with a dog curled beside him. We’ve always loved you, even when you forget to love yourselves.

And it’s not just us! You’re surrounded by beings that teach, heal, and serve, even if you don’t always notice.

Elephants mourn their dead and comfort one another, some have even been documented rescuing humans from danger.

Dolphins have saved people from drowning and even from shark attacks, circling protectively until help arrives.

Parrots have alerted owners to fires. Pigs have detected cancer. Bees pollinate your food supply. And plants? They communicate underground, share nutrients, warn each other of danger.

You humans are beautiful and intelligent. You are capable of two of the most sacred of qualities; Kindness and Truth.

You cry out rightfully for injustice among your kind. But remember, cruelty toward animals happens on a far greater, almost incomprehensible scale.

Until empathy extends beyond your species, peace will be a fragile dream.

Wars will echo this disconnection; the failure to recognize life as precious, no matter what its form. The Earth, the animals, the trees... we are not resources. We are relatives.

Below is a list of some of the known acts of loyalty and heroism from us Dogs.

Hachikō – Japan’s Symbol of Devotion
Every day for nearly 10 years, Hachikō the Akita waited at Tokyo’s Shibuya Station for his owner, who had died unexpectedly at work. His unwavering routine touched so many that a bronze statue now stands in his honour at the station.

Bud Nelson – The First Canine Road-Tripper
In 1903, Bud rode shotgun with Dr. Horatio Nelson Jackson on the first-ever cross-country automobile trip across the U.S. He wore goggles and braved rough terrain, becoming a symbol of adventure and loyalty.

Zanjeer – The Bomb-Sniffing Hero of Mumbai
This Labrador saved thousands of lives by detecting explosives during the 1993 Mumbai bombings. When he passed away, he was given a full police funeral—a rare honour for a dog.

Togo & Balto – Sled Dogs Who Saved Nome
In 1925, a diphtheria outbreak threatened the town of Nome, Alaska. Togo led the longest and most dangerous leg of the serum run, while Balto delivered the final dose. Their bravery inspired the annual Iditarod race.

Sergeant Stubby – WWI’s Most Decorated Dog
Stubby served in 17 battles, learned bugle calls, detected mustard gas, and even captured a German spy. He was promoted to sergeant and became a beloved mascot of the 102nd Infantry.

Bobbie the Wonder Dog – A 2,800-Mile Journey Home
Lost during a family trip in 1923, Bobbie the collie somehow travelled over 2,800 miles to return home to Oregon. His journey remains one of the most astonishing cases of animal navigation.

We dogs are used in therapy to help people with PTSD, anxiety, and depression.

We can also detect cancer, diabetes, and seizures before symptoms appear. Our sense of smell is so refined; we can identify chemical changes in the body.

We are often deployed to disaster zones, mass shootings, and hospitals to provide psychological first aid.

The therapy dogs amongst us and the trained handlers, offer comfort to survivors and are first responders after hurricanes, wildfires, and other tragedies.

We help reduce stress, lower cortisol levels, and create a sense of safety in chaotic environments.

My message to you dear humans is not to feel guilt or despair. Just please be aware and

see the light in the eyes of all living things. Question systems built on suffering. Stand up, even when it’s inconvenient, even when it’s mocked.

Teach your children to be kind not just to pets, but to insects, plants, all forms of life.

I was saved because two humans believed in me, as the pure, loving, gentle soul that I am. What if this belief became the foundation of your civilization?

I walk now in spirit, among stars and memories. But I still believe in you.

You have more power than you know. You are not separate from nature. You are nature.

We don’t just share your world, we enhance it.

With so much love and gratitude to all who have signed and shared this petition already,

Sid (Siddhartha Ravenhound)
