Did you know that the Hong Kong government expects a budget surplus of $12.3 billion USD this year for our population of only 7.4 million? This is on top of the $8.2 billion USD surplus of the previous year. By contrast, New York City with a population of 8.4 million expected a surplus of only $1.9 billion USD for that same year. The fact is, Hong Kong has been running billion dollar surpluses for years. Yet we waste so much, recycle little, and trash the ocean. If the Hong Kong Environmental Protection Department actually did their job, we wouldn't be the #1 wasters in the world. That's why we must take advantage of the Agriculture, Fisheries, and Conservation Department's new Hoi Ha Wan Marine Park visitor centre to get the ball rolling on education about trashing our seas. We consume so much fish in Hong Kong, you'd think we would be concerned about our own health at least and be the cleanest in the world. So the fact that we are the dirtiest, makes absolutely no sense at all. Most developed nations have been spending the resources to put in place the infrastructure and educate the people to clean up their act for years. Why should the Hong Kong government get away with being such a big polluter while making themselves rich? It's not fair that we keep getting away with it while others are trying hard to make a difference. Resources need to start going into education. Only with education we can change and shed this crown! Today we passed 250! That's a big milestone. We've got the Chinese language version included now and are begining to develop some new tactics to hopefully gain more support. Thanks again to everyone and please remember to keep encouraging others all over the world to tell the Hong Kong government that we need to start educating change! Our oceans are integral for our very survival. -Chris
