At the present moment it is questionable if our elected officials are doing what is in the best interest of the people right here in Union County. Politicians in North Carolina should be held accountable for their actions and for acting in the best interests of their constituents.

If we don't have the right of recall, we do not have the right of fair Government. The State of North Carolina is one of only fourteen states that don't allow recall elections. According to the Declaration of Independence it is the right of the people, as quoted: "But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new Guards for their future security."

I believe we need to hold elected officials in North Carolina accountable, not just the state government, but right here at home in Union County. We need to truly become a state that is ran by the people for the people.
