The Issue

This is for Annette. For Gabby Petito. For Savanna Puckett For Nicole Brown Simpson. For the women whose warning signs were ignored. For the survivors who reported the abuse and still were not protected. For the families left grieving loved ones they should never have lost. Some names became national headlines. Most never did. But the stories are painfully similar. The police calls were made. The fear was documented. The abuse escalated. The warning signs were there. And still, lives were taken. Too many victims are told there is “not enough evidence” until the abuse turns deadly. Too many survivors reporting strangulation, stalking, threats, coercive control, and violence are left unprotected until it is too late. That is why we are creating The Annette Act. This proposal is being built from survivor stories, real cases, research, statistics, and the voices of people tired of watching domestic violence be minimized until another woman loses her life. We are fighting for stronger protections, accountability, earlier intervention, coercive control reforms, stalking reforms, survivor support, and systems that recognize danger BEFORE another family has to plan a funeral. Because domestic violence should never have to end in murder before action is finally taken seriously. Please sign. Please share. Please help us fight for real change. Because somebody should have listened sooner.
