I am part of a club I never wanted to be a part of. A parent that had to bury a child club. A club that brings nights of torn dreams, tears, and a heart that feels as if it has been ripped apart. I had to make decisions that, as a parent, we didn’t plan for our children; things I had never asked my son. Did he want a burial or cremation? What type of funeral did he want? It never crossed my mind, not once, and why would it? My son Henry was a healthy 16-year-old boy who had his entire life in front of him. He didn’t deserve this. His father had mental health issues and loaded firearms all over his house. The Red Flag Law, AKA Extreme Risk Protection Orders, allows families and concerned law enforcement to take action and proactively prevent tragedies like Henry’s from happening again. The Red Flag Law in Wisconsin would help by reducing firearms access and providing a safer environment for people suffering from mental illnesses to seek treatment and additional resources to address the root causes of their crisis. Wisconsin needs the Red Flag law to protect and save innocent lives. I’m very thankful to those that have signed and shared Henry’s petition thus far. I still need your help in receiving more signatures by sharing this with family, friends, coworkers, and on social media outlets. I currently have less than 2,000 signatures.
