🚨 A New Jersey road worker was killed.
Another barely survived. This cannot continue.

On July 31, 2025, Allen Adams — a devoted husband, father, grandfather (“Pappy”), and road construction worker - was killed while working in an active work zone in Toms River, New Jersey.

He was doing his job.
He was following safety protocols.
He should have gone home.

Instead, he was struck and killed instantly by a driver who was:

• Nearly 3x the legal alcohol limit
• Under the influence of three illegal drugs

This was not just tragic.
It was preventable.

It didn’t.

🏛️ New Jersey Already Tried to Fix This - and Failed to Finish the Job

A previous bill, NJ S-4758, passed unanimously in the Senate - proving lawmakers on both sides agreed:

👉 Road workers need stronger protection.

But then:

• was only introduced in the Assembly
• It was never heard
• And when Governor Phil Murphy left office, the bill died

Now we are forced to start over.

 
✅ The Solution: NJ S-1931

NJ S-1931 is the renewed effort to protect New Jersey road workers.

This legislation will:

• Increase penalties for reckless and impaired driving in work zones
• Hold dangerous drivers accountable
• Strengthen work zone safety protections
• Push New Jersey toward school-zone-level enforcement for road workers

Because road workers deserve the same protection as children in school zones.

Allen wasn’t just a worker. He was:

• A husband
• A father
• A Pappy
• The rock of his family

And today, his family is left without him - because someone chose to drive impaired.

Meanwhile, countless road workers across New Jersey still step into traffic every day… hoping they make it home.
