State Senator’s Office Contacted DEW About Meila’s Complaint

Today I received an update from the office of Ohio State Senator Terry Johnson regarding my daughter Meila’s special-education complaint.

After I provided our DEW complaint number, CP 0218-2026, the senator’s office contacted its liaison with the Ohio Department of Education and Workforce. I was informed that the investigator is expected to issue a Letter of Findings by October 17, 2026.

For months, my goal has been simple: I want the records, evidence, and concerns involving my daughter to actually be reviewed through the appropriate processes.

I am grateful to everyone who has followed Meila’s story, signed this petition, and supported our family while we continue navigating this.

This petition was created because what happened to our family raised larger questions for me about protections for children with disabilities, parent participation, administrative accountability, and what happens when conflict between adults begins affecting a child’s education.

I will continue sharing documented updates as the state process moves forward.
