We have an important update regarding Jayden’s Law.
Today, the bill was heard before the Kentucky Senate Judiciary Committee and passed out of committee with a favorable vote of 6–1, with one member passing.
This means the legislation will now move forward for consideration by the full Kentucky Senate.
Jayden’s Law is intended to strengthen Kentucky statutes in cases where a child dies as the result of abuse, helping ensure that these tragic cases are treated with the seriousness they deserve.
I want to thank Senator Brandon Smith for sponsoring the bill and working to move it through the legislative process.
I also appreciate the Judiciary Committee for taking the time to hear and review the legislation.
This step moves the bill closer to becoming law, but there is still more work to be done.
Thank you to everyone who has signed the petition and supported this effort to protect Kentucky’s children.
