I have just received word that Jayden’s Law will finally be heard in the Kentucky Senate Judiciary Committee tomorrow morning (March 12) at 9:00 AM.
This is a major step forward.
For weeks the bill has been sitting in committee waiting for the opportunity to be heard. Tomorrow the committee will consider SB 138, legislation designed to strengthen Kentucky law when a child dies as the result of abuse.
The goal of Jayden’s Law is simple: to ensure that Kentucky law properly reflects the seriousness of child abuse that results in the death of a child.
Unfortunately, I am unable to attend the hearing due to illness, but I want to publicly thank Senator Brandon Smith for his work in bringing this bill forward and helping move it to this stage.
Please continue to keep this effort in your thoughts and prayers as the committee considers the bill.
Protecting children should never be a partisan issue.
I will post updates as soon as more information becomes available.
