The Issue

I am writing to ask for your support of House Bill 2322, the Youthful Offender Sentencing Reform and Accountability Act. This bill is about more than just legal code; it is about recognizing the human capacity for change.
I was just 19 years old when I was sent to prison. I am now 41. I have spent over 22 years—my entire adult life—behind bars. While I have always held myself accountable for the nature of the crime, I have also transform. I am no longer the impulsive teenager i was two decades ago; I am man who has matured, sought education, and worked hard to rehabilitate himself.
Why Missouri needs HB 2322:
Current Missouri laws often leave young people with "death in prison" sentences that offer no hope, regardless of how much they change. HB 2322 would allow for a meaningful parole review after 25 years for those who were under 20 at the time of their offense.
This bill would:

Recognize Brain Science: Acknowledge that young adult brains are still developing and capable of profound change.

Save Taxpayer Dollars: Reduce the massive cost of incarcerating reformed, aging individuals who no longer pose a threat.

Restore Families: Give children and families a chance to be reunited with loved ones who have truly reformed.
I believe I have paid my debt to society for over two decades. I deserves the chance to prove to a parole board that I am ready to come home and contribute to our community.

Please sign this petition to tell Missouri lawmakers that we believe in accountability and second chances. Pass HB 2322.
