Pass Gypsy’s Law: Protections from Deadly Reckless Driving

Pass Gypsy’s Law: Protections from Deadly Reckless Driving
The Issue
Gypsy’s Law calls for new safety protections addressing the dangerous combination of young drivers and high-performance vehicles and stronger accountability for deadly reckless driving.
By strengthening safeguards and penalties for extreme reckless behavior behind the wheel, this law aims to prevent tragedies and make our roads safer for everyone.
Gypsy Nola Rose Simonyi was a daughter, a sister, a granddaughter, a niece, a cousin. More so, she was a friend to all ages and walks of life. Gypsy was vibrant, passionate about caring, wise beyond her age, and fiercely independent. Gypsy always showed strength and conviction, never afraid to stand up for herself, her family, and friends. Gypsy’s kind heart touched the lives of so many people around her and was loved by everyone that crossed her path. At only 16 years old, Gypsy had detailed plans all laid out for the future ahead of her...
...That future was taken away by deadly reckless driving.
Across the country, communities are seeing a troubling pattern: extremely powerful vehicles being driven recklessly on public roads, often by very young and inexperienced drivers. When high speeds and inexperience collide, the consequences can be devastating.
Gypsy’s Law seeks to honor her life by addressing this growing safety risk and working to prevent similar tragedies.
Gypsy’s Law would introduce common-sense measures to reduce deadly reckless driving, including:
•increased safeguards surrounding young drivers operating high-performance vehicles
• stronger penalties for extreme reckless speeding
• meaningful accountability for deadly reckless driving
• improved deterrents to discourage dangerous driving behavior
The goal is simple: safer roads and stronger protection for everyone who shares them.
Deadly reckless driving devastates families and communities!
