Pass a law to make paywalling complaints illegal
The Issue
All complaints have been silenced. That’s the reality of the people protesting against Kevin O’ leary’s data center. We have to Pay to voice our opinion, an opinion we SHOULD have the right to voice without paying 15$ dollars.
Kevin O’Leary got it approved using a state agency called military installment Devopment authority along with box elder county commission. This data center if not stopped will rise temperatures by 28 degrees at night and 5 degrees in Utah. Data centers take up water, which by itself is a problem but in that area it’s being built? It’s known for droughts. We don’t have enough water as it is and we have enough data centers. Why are we adding more problems? He promises to bring in more jobs. But what’s the point of bringing in more jobs if you are harming the environment?
He denies the claims, He says it’s ‘Misinformation’ but even scientists have proven his claim wrong. “it could create a massive heat island capable of devastating the area’s ecology, ” said Robert Davies, a physics professor at Utah State University.
Nearly 4000 people lodged objections to the project, the complaints? They’ve gone silent. The reason? Utah has purposefully changed the process and made previous complaints invalidated and to lodge a new one you need to pay 15$.
the project will require 9 gigawatts of power, which is how much electricity New York City uses on a peak of a hot summer day. Not only that, but the power it will produce is the thermal load of 23 atomic bombs worth of energy dumped into the local environment DAILY.
Spiking evaporation and vanishing dewpoints threaten local wildlife, plants, and ranching. Scientists warn Hansel Valley could become another major dust source alongside the shrinking Great Salt Lake.
With this data center, we are targeting small problems instead of important ones. WE DON’T WANT THIS. We want clean water and breathable air.
the locals don’t want this, the environment doesn’t need it. We have power in numbers.
We aren’t powerless.
