Parole Advocacy for Julius Johnson

Parole Advocacy for Julius Johnson
The Issue
My name is Julius Raynard Johnson and I’m currently serving a 25yr recidivist sentence for the non-violent offense of Trafficking narcotics. The political climate surrounding the opioid crises and our countries substance abuse problem put an unfavorable and prejudicial spotlight on my case and subsequently the horrendous sentencing. Therefore by default disqualifying the notion that I received a fair and speedy trial, which is enshrined in our Bill of Rights. Most would agree that the punishment of recidivism in this particular case was severe and extreme considering the crime, which basically breaks down to a paid confidential informant who entrapped me with two controlled buys, which makes it a victimless crime. In fact there is a bigger issue at hand that and that’s the issue of the scales of justice not being applied evenly around the board. America has been dealing with this burden since it’s inception.the confidential informant in this case was a known drug dealer. Those credentials earned him an opportunity to work as a de facto state employee which he worked in tandem with the law enforcement that swore an oath to rid our communities of people with his long history of committing Crimes. These government agencies( i.e.) ATF, Gang task force,DEA, Gwinnett County Police Department paid the Informant several thousands of dollars in cash every week and allowed him to target individuals for crimes independently without supervision. Thus making it possible for the informant to amass tens of thousands of dollars over the course of a year-long investigation which was funded by taxpayers. My co-defendant was pressured by the District Attorney to take a plea deal 30 years to serve 15 years. He was released on parole after doing a little under three years due to COVID. How is this fair and just when two out of three individuals involved have been released from custody several years ago? Now 6 ½ years later, as a justice involved person I’ve completed six vocational programs, a two- year faith and character based program, where I held a detail for three straight years as an ID clerk and warehousing manager. All of which have equipped me with the necessary tools to find legitimate employment and become a productive citizen in my community. I found a career in writing, publishing my first book independently titled “Touched” by Nard Johnson, which is the first installment to a four-part series I accomplished these feats during the COVID-19 lockdowns, prison bureaucracy, and the day-to-day hardships of being a returning citizen, housed inside the Department of Corrections. I’m proud of all my accomplishments but even more so I’m pleased with my personal growth as a man. This time has allowed me to identify key elements to my behavior and lifestyle that needed to be changed or corrected.I made the necessary adjustments for my rehabilitation, and I understand that the lack of accountability and not taking responsibility for past decisions has led me to be here in the first place. Now I'm focused and ready to be part of my community and give back to my community after contributing to the problem, I would like an opportunity to be part of the solution. I'm asking my family and friends to sign this petition with hopes of being paroled expeditiously.Thankyou for all your prayers and support! God bless you
