Help legalize marijuana for our health, the economy and our planet!
The Issue
It’s finally well known that marijuana DOES have many potential benefits in all areas surrounding current problems happening around the world. Yet for some reason, nothing has changed. For example, although the use for medical cannabis is now allowed, it is still extremely rarely prescribed for those who really need it. I won't go through all the science of it, as the information is free for you to read online, and you don't want me babbling on about what happens, but more about the outcomes. l’ll use Parkinson's disease as a prime example. There are plenty, and I mean plenty, of examples of people who suffer with Parkinson's experimenting with medical cannabis, and after a short period of time the symptoms start to slow down and they seem to be able to have an easier life because of it. I shouldn't even have to mention the benefits for epilepsy, as its been seen all over the media, medical marijuana helps in numerous ways. For me personally I would like to see it investigated for ADHD. I'm a young man who lives with ADHD and have definitely struggled through younger years because of it. School life was hard as I couldn't even stay sat still, let alone concentrate. I wasn’t exactly normal because I was erratic and my thought process was 100 mph. The medication prescribed, whether it be Ritalin or Concerta XL, which was what I was on, was horrible. It zombifies you and you no longer feel like you’re remotely the same person, barely even a human - I would go so far as to say less functional than without it. So in my younger years I turned to Weed to help get me through as I was getting bad. I was making decisions so rashly and the consequences to doing things without thinking can be dire as we all know. To my surprise I was able to function! Granted I was stoned, but I was able to concentrate. I wouldn't make any more rash decisions because yes my brain slowed down but not so much that I couldn't do anything. Not so much that I couldn't be myself. I started to do better in school, I was calmer and started to get along better with my peers. I managed to make it through with my GCSE's - maybe not the best - but I did it nonetheless which I doubt I couldn’t have without self-medicating.
The next point that must be made is Hemp. Hemp is a material that can be used for a lot, and I mean A LOT of what we use in our day to day life. Paper, fuel, ink, carpet, batteries, plastic products and that's a very tiny percentage of the potential creativity with Hemp. What baffles me is why a RENEWABLE RESOURCE isn't being mass produced. We could save plantation and natural wildlife in an instant just by starting growing cannabis. IS THAT NOT CRAZY TO YOU? Now the economy. Everyone could use a little more money especially during these stressful times. The 2020 Election, leaving the EU, I'm worried too. Funnily enough, cannabis will help with some of the main worries we have today. Legalising cannabis will not only provide thousands of jobs, but also bring in countless revenue for the country. Opportunities ranging from farming the plant from the roots to selling it over counters and all the in between. We can build new homes with the plant material (Hemp) - which can also be recycled - and even benefit as a society
I love my country, I love the human race, but sometimes we make bad choices. I feel the Government made one when the made it illegal to even do any research on the subject of cannabis. What sort of leaders ban such a beneficial plant, yet allow substances like alcohol, cigarettes, even strong legal medicine, to be easily accessible, and we all know all sorts of problems those substances caused. When you walk past a really drunk person on a walk, you tend to avoid them right? When you walk past someone who's really stoned, you couldn't even take any notice because you wouldn't really be able to tell they were under the influence. Don't see many stoned menaces to society do you? I’m just a young man who wants to see the world as a better place and I see the benefits of the cannabis plant as the first step in doing so.
Please help me change the UK for the better, not just for me but for everyone in all walks of life whether they want to relax and smoke peacefully, or actively get involved with the market, earn some money and supply all sorts of materials to the citizens who need it.
