Everybody is aware that in todays society, being a healthcare student is hardwork, demanding and challenging.  As students, we are expected to undertake 2300+ hours of pracrical placments inorder to achieve our EU numbers, experience and exposure to real like work settings.

Student burserys are no longer offered, maintence loans are adjusted based on household income "before tax" and we receive no extra income for working full time hours.

As a student midwife in my second year, I have faced many times where placement hours have not been completed due to childcare issues. This in turn causes higher mental health issues and a high drop out rate due to lack of support. At a time where healthcare professionals such as, nurses and midwives are at critical point - I believe a top proity is to understand issues faced by students today.

I would like to see the eligability for recieving 30 hours free nursery hours include full time students- especially those in a health care profession. At the moment, eligability is based on those receiving benefits or if a twomparent houehold each person earning £131+ per week to qualify.

As stated earlier, we are already expected to work full time hours 50%+ of the time, for our degree, this is not possible or acceptable to suggest those to work increased hours to ensure funding is provided.

30 free hours is all we are asking to help students feel supported. At a time lack of trust, lack of oppertunity and option is presented to us - not a big request at all.
