Police Authorities were established to safegaurd the citizens, but most of us when seeing a police officer feel scared insted of felling safe.Everyone of us encounter with police and most of us wouldn't be having a pleasant experience. Police officials very ofter threaten innocent citizens in order to get some out of their pocket . Many of us are harrased by police officials as they threaten to take proceesings againts citizens who are not even about the exact law. Police officers very usually use physical force without being questioned about it. They do not respect the privacy of others. Many times couples are harrased by Police Officers, as the Police Officers threaten them to take them to Police Station or call their parents, even when they are not empowered to do so, couples fearing legal actions againts them shell out some money to the Police Officers. Whenever any person is stopped by a Traffic Police Officer, the Police officer threatens to impound their vehicle or RC or tells the citizens about a heavy fime that they are not even liable to pay as a result citizens often pay some money to Traffic Police Officers and get free. My personal experience- I went with my friend to a Police Station of West District in New Delhi as he was receiving threats to his life. First of all the Police Officer recording the FIR was not ready to register the FIR and he said that the matter would be disposed off in some days and there is no need to file a FIR. When we insisted on recording FIR he scolded us badly and later on did not register the FIR. Meanwhile in the police station there were 2 groups of girls who had a fight. Girls of one group were not given any chance of hearing and when they argued they were beaten up by MALE POLICE CONSATBLES later on those girls called their brother to the Police Station. When their brother enquired why the Male Police Constables had beaten up her sister, around 7-8 police constables started beating up that boy with Lathis, punches ,kicks etc.The boy was being beaten up very badly and when me and my friend requested them to stop we were slapped and pushed out of Police Station. My aim to start this Petition is to have statutory control on using of physical force by Police Officers on Citizens and I request the Legislators to kindly legislate on Police Brutality.
