Parkview Towers Management and Owners,

We are writing to you collectively as the residents of Parkview Towers.

As responsible tenants who care for this building and pay our rent on time, we were disappointed to see that identical units in our building are currently being advertised to new renters starting at $1,650 per month. Meanwhile, many current residents are paying significantly higher rates for the exact same living spaces.

When individual tenants have approached management to ask for fair rent reductions to match these advertised rates, those requests have been flatly rejected, and residents have been told that they have the option to move out.

Telling loyal tenants to leave rather than treating them fairly is unacceptable. This is a breach of the good faith and trust premises in our contracts. Our community is unified, and we have organized with the support of the Vancouver Tenants Union.

We are collectively demanding the following:

1. Rent Realignment and Protection: An immediate reduction in rent for all overcharged existing tenants, basing the baseline rent on the advertised rate of $1,650. Any incremental premium added to this base rate for specific units—such as higher floors, views, or renovations—must be completely transparent, justified, and clearly stated. Under no circumstances should this realignment affect long-term residents currently paying below this rate.

2. Fair Amenity Pricing: A review and reduction of the laundry prices, which place a heavy financial burden on residents.

3. Good Faith Negotiation: A formal response to this collective letter addressed to the tenants, rather than attempting to split residents up via individual, private communications.

We prefer to resolve this matter cooperatively and look forward to your prompt response.
