We, the undersigned citizens of Canada, draw to the Minister responsible for Parks Canada that recent proposed Land Use Policy Amendments in the Town of Jasper would negatively impact residents who operate Private Home Accommodations (PHAs) as well as the local economy and visitor access. Jasper PHAs provide a safe and affordable lodging option for visitors to Jasper National Park both domestic and international. Without these licensed and regulated home based businesses visitors face lack of availability (i.e. no vacancies) and/or peak season pricing that would preclude their use and enjoyment of our National Park.

Therefore, your petitioners request the Honourable Minister in conjunction with the Superintendent of Jasper National Park and in keeping with Parks Canada’s fundamental principles of “inclusivity and accessibility” noted in the 2021-22 Developmental Plan support the continuation of this invaluable service under operators existing Discretionary Use Permits provided by Parks Canada Agency.
