Regis Jesuit needs to provide the education we paid for now and in the future.

The Issue

Dear fellow Regis Jesuit Parents,

Happy New Year!  As the Spring 2021 semester is upon us, we celebrate that Regis Jesuit's administration has communicated its intent and started to increase in-person learning for our children.

COVID is real and has impacted many Regis families and the data indicate it remains a significant clinical threat to specific populations, like those over 65 years old and those with underlying diseases such as diabetes, congestive heart failure and other conditions.

The data and federal/state guidelines are also clear that risk of asymptomatic spread of COVID in school among students and faculty is very low and that children should be back in school and receive in person instruction; of course accommodating for those who must be remote.

Many local private schools, including Holy Family, Valor, and Lutheran (as well as catholic and jesuit high schools in Michigan, Ohio, Illinois and Missouri) have and continue to successfully provide in-person learning for 100% of the student body (while accommodating remote needs).

Unfortunately, Regis administration continues to make unilateral decisions where class time remains reduced by 25% per day, and now propose our children to attend 25% of their days (plus Kairos days) remotely... providing at best 66% of the in person learning we all contracted and paid for when we signed our tuition agreements.  Regis also continues to reserve the ability to go back to 100% on line whenever they deem appropriate.

Our tuition agreement with Regis Jesuit  was signed with an expectation of an in-person, Catholic college preparatory education with the full "Jesuit experience" as advertised or experienced through open houses and/or past children attending the school.

If you concur, we invite you to sign this petition requesting Regis Jesuit to:
1. live up to their contractual duties (specific performance) including in person learning 5 full days a week for the entire student body

2. provide reimbursement for underperformance (ie, shortened school days, 4 day weeks, remote vs. in-person learning) to date
3. change the tuition agreement to reflect exactly what will be delivered going forward and committing to evidence based decision making in the face of any future community health issues.

Thank you and God bless you, your family and the entire Regis Jesuit Community!
