Keep California Kids away from Coronavirus
Keep California Kids away from Coronavirus
The Issue
Please protect our children who may get involuntarily exposed to coronavirus (2019-nCoV) by urging California's school districts to ask children to study from home for 15 days, if they have visited China during the past 15 days, or have had close contact with some one (parents/family members/visitors) from China during the past 15 days.
The novel coronavirus broke out in Wuhan, China around mid-January, 2020, and had quickly spread in China and other countries. As of January 26, 2020, 80 people died of the coronavirus and more than 2,700 cases have been confirmed in mainland China. Additionally, more than 50 cases were confirmed in 13 places outside of mainland China, including at least five cases in the United States - CA, IL, WA and AZ. So far, coronavirus victims’ age ranges from 9 months to 80+ years old. (Source: CNN, CDC website)
Coronavirus has no cure so far, can spread from person to person by close contact and can cause serious aspirational problems, fever, headache or general ill feeling. It has 4% death rate, and up to 14 days incubation period, when no symptom shows but the infected person is highly contagious, according to CDC.
This situation is fast evolving and we need to act before it's too late! The CDC ignored that majority of the 30,000 people, flying to the U.S. from China everyday, land in California. The CDC was wrong in declaring that the immediate health risk to the general American public is low. The immediate health risk to California residents, especially children, is high!
