City of Palmview: Allow Truckers to come home.
The Issue
Change needs to be made now, or it will only get worse! If you think it doesn’t affect you or your area, it might not just yet, but what if you’re next?
The City of Palmview claims to have it’s best interest of the welfare and safety of its residents. Clearly with the ordnance they are now enforcing about the operation of any truck, semi-trailer, or road tractor being prohibited on streets their trucker residents live on, in and near, is a HUGE sign that they have either forgotten about the mass majority truckers make up of Palmview’s population, or they don’t understand the definition of having their “best interest for their residents welfare.” Many of these companies/drivers have owned, operated and lived in these areas long before it was city limits, and are now being told that bringing their trucks home is off limits!
They have also begun enforcing a “NO PARKING” ordinance. This ordinance deems unlawful the parking of any truck weighing over 10,000 pounds (or more) on any public street, alley, parkway, boulevard, or any public place which abuts ANY RESIDENTIAL ZONED PROPERTY! Further prohibiting the parking, standing, or stopping of any 18 wheelers, semi-trailers, trucks, road tractors, or recreational vehicles (motor homes travel trailers), on any road, right-of-way, street, or sidewalk in a residential subdivision.
We understand the concerns and dangers a few trucks parking in areas that are clearly a safety hazard brings, and that should be taken care of! BUT not by enforcing these ordinances! All of Palmview’s hardworking truckers should not have to suffer the consequences of a few bad apples. There are other means in which these problems can be resolved! We are not looking to hinder or harm any other Palmview resident! We simply ask to be heard, and accommodated to! We are Palmview too, after all!
If you have any questions in regards as to how or if this affects you, PLEASE call the City of Palmview’s city hall or Palmview PD as well! They’ll give you answers. You may be able to get away with it for now, but how much longer before they decide you can’t, just like they’re doing now.
