Palestine - Send in the Peacekeepers!
The Issue
To: THE LEADERS OF THE WORLD'S NATIONS
This petition of the citizens of the world
declares that an international peacekeeping force be deployed to the land of Palestine at the earliest opportunity.
The petitioners urge the international leaders to SEND IN THE PEACEKEEPERS!; an international force deployed in Gaza, West Bank and East Jerusalem in order to kick-start a peace process that is so badly needed and where others have failed. The peacekeepers will be responsible for separating the protagonists, disarming Hamas (and its affiliates) and illegal Israeli settlers, and to stop further illegal construction in all areas.
INTRODUCTION
Hello, I am just another individual with no political agenda other than wanting peace to break out in Palestine, the Middle East and afar. So please let me have your attention for just a few minutes.
PALESTINE - SEND IN THE PEACEKEEPERS!
‘On May 15, Israeli forces killed two Palestinian youths in the West Bank town of Beitunia, their cold-blooded slayings by a sniper’s bullet captured on video. Their names – Nadim Nuwara and Muhammad Abu al-Thahir – were added to a long list of such killings in recent months and years.
The killing of three Israeli teenagers, two of them minors, abducted in the occupied West Bank in June, was perhaps in reprisal for killings of Palestinian children.’ (Extract from ‘On Palestine’, a book credited to authors Noam Chomsky and Ilan Pappe, and edited by Frank Barat, a human rights activist. The book was published in 2015!).
The situation in Palestine doesn’t change, does it! So many decades have gone by and we are still seeing distressing images on our screens and filling columns in newspapers. The killing of innocent civilians ON BOTH SIDES can not be condoned in any way. However, while Israel, as the colonial power, continues it’s intended march to the total occupation of Palestine and making the lives of the indigenous population such a miserable and ghettoised existence, it is absolutely not surprising that elements of the Palestinian people feel the only answer is to take up stones and fight back against the oppressive regime, just as they have done for many decades. Great Britain was a colonial power once. It felt it had the right to conquer and ‘civilise’ other lands whilst ignoring the rights of the native population; just like the Spanish in South America, the French in north Africa and the European settlers in North America. And anyone who resists and tries to fight back now is seen as a terrorist, just because they don’t prescribe to the view of the colonials who feel they have a right to rampage over foreign lands without a moments thought for the people and what they want.
‘You shall love the stranger as yourself.’ (Torah, Leviticus 19:34).
And so it is with Israel, fighting for a land of few resources they don’t need but just to satisfy their own sense of justice and belonging. But in no way can it be seen in terms of one reprisal for another when the current toll of Palestinian murders stands at 76,000+ and dead bodies are still being retrieved from beneath the rubble of the early days in 2023 of this current massacre. It is the wanton destruction and dehumanising of another race of people by any means including murder, harassment, denial of basic services, safe shelter, food and medical care – all the restrictions needed to make life so inhospitable as to forcibly ‘encourage’ people to seek refuge elsewhere. And these millions of refugees could be landing on your doorstep!
‘Render true judgments, show kindness and mercy.’ (Bible, Zechariah 7:9).
While Israel gathers momentum in carrying out its stated incremental objective for totality, especially in the West Bank at the moment with E1, and gradually encroaching beyond the agreed yellow demarcation line in Gaza, Palestinians are still being mercilessly killed and livelihoods destroyed while the world watches on. This current October 2025 ‘ceasefire’ has claimed 1334 lives (UN figure up to 2nd September). Quite frankly, the international response to this continuing ethnic cleansing and genocide has been woeful to say the least. Israel will not stop, whilst fighting under the pretense of ‘security’, to pursue its end-goal, and if it can make the lives of the Palestinian people worse than being in a prison, in the process, then all the better.
‘You shall not mistreat any widow or fatherless child.’ (Torah, Exodus 22:22).
Events in East Jerusalem generally get overlooked by mainstream media in this ongoing conflict. On the 23rd July, the al-Aqsa Mosque compound, the third holiest site in Islam, where Israel does not have any jurisdiction or sovereignty over Islamic and Christian holy sites, other than for the security outside, more than 4200 Israeli settlers were allowed to storm the enclosure by those same police forces, leading to clashes with Muslims who are repeatedly being restricted from their own place of worship. It is nonsensical and deliberate antagonising and subjugation of another people and such actions cannot help any peace process. But, then again, does Israel really want peace while it’s ultimate mission has not been fulfilled! If Israel was really serious about peace, it would have absolutely no objection to the peacekeepers separating and disarming its own illegal settlers as well as Hamas. But still, while Israel is seen as a Western-friendly nation, the international community treats it with kid-gloves with the odd condemnation and a few sanctions, but are they making any difference! None whatsoever! E1 still goes ahead, international laws are still being flouted, Israel is still being armed and the killings on both sides continue.
HOW MANY MORE INNOCENT KILLINGS WILL IT TAKE FOR THE INTERNATIONAL COMMUNITY TO WAKE UP AND GET YOUR ACT TOGETHER AND DO SOMETHING REALLY POSITIVE! WE WERE NOT PUT ON THIS PLANET TO KILL EACH OTHER! WHATEVER YOUR ALLEGIANCES, WE DEMAND YOU STEP UP AND BRING THIS WHOLE SORRY MESS TO A PEACEFUL CONCLUSION BEFORE IT’S TOO LATE.
‘We have created man in the finest state then reduced him to the lowest of the low....’ (Quran, chapter 95,v.4/5).
But the issue goes much deeper than conflicts in the Middle East and elsewhere. At a time when the most destructive force on the planet – the planet itself – wreaks havoc and devastation all over the world with after-effects no one will be immune to, directly or indirectly, the (apparently) most intelligent being on this earth chooses war, confrontation and its own self-destruction. Billions and billions of dollars are having to be spent to recover from natural disasters whilst, at the same time, we are spending billions and billions on defending our economies and ideologies. And, all the while, starvation, oppression, disease, poverty, homelessness, stress and tension continue to flourish. IT’S INSANE! It’s a stain on all of us and EVERYONE has a part to play.
‘But man has gone beyond the limits when he thinks of himself as self-sufficient.’ (Quran, chapter 96, v.6).
How badly WE ALL NEED that overriding force to turn to in these desperate times – a force more powerful than our leaders, more powerful than this planet and more powerful than this universe, a superior being that we ignore at our peril!
Can you, honestly, ask yourself is Israel justified in its illegal occupation and actions! Hasn’t our faith and trust in the dollar, the yuan, the euro, etc. become so dominant in our lives that it overrides our natural instincts of humanity and justice! Are we not putting politics and misguided allegiancies before saving lives! What are we when we are becoming desensitised to the plight of others who are crying out for our help! I urge the world's nations to get boots on the ground and let an INTERNATIONAL FORCE OF PEACEKEEPERS do their job of keeping the warring factions apart and stopping the killing!
‘... man is ungrateful to his Lord,... He is truly excessive in his love of wealth.’ (Qur’an, chapter 100, v.6-8).
There are many, many people all over the world trying to make it a better place but are being thwarted by some corrupt, incompetent and self-interested leaders clinging on to power, a general sense of distrust and disrespect among an impatient and ungrateful population, and man’s innate desire for more and more that leads to living beyond its means and passing the debt on to future generations. I appeal to you, as just another fellow human being, to restore our worldly sense of care, love and respect for each other and for the planet itself, to get back to our essential roots of a civilised society and the purpose for what we were put on this earth in the first place.
‘Competing for more distracts you until you visit the cemetry (your own death).’ (Quran, chapter 102, v.1).
And while we are tucking into our pizzas, pancakes and pittas tonight, can we at least spare a thought for all oppressed people in this world eking out a meagre existence under their oppressors. The fact that this is all taking place at the hands of, and under the gaze of, the international community is a stain UPON US ALL, and we must do what little we can to end this crime against humanity. Talk about it, sign this petition, write to your government and remind rogue nations of their responsibilities to the welfare of EVERY individual on this planet and to the planet, itself.
In Memory of 5-year-old Hind Rajab who, on 29th January, 2024, spent the final hours of her young life surrounded by her 6 dead relatives, including her 15-year-old cousin Layan, in a car that was subjected to 335 bullets fired from an Israeli tank, metres away, as they tried to evacuate from an IDF-designated area. Her final words in a phone call to her mother and to the ambulance service whose paramedics were trying to come to her aid but were also killed were, ‘The tank is next to me’, ‘Please come and get me, I’m so scared’, ‘Don’t leave me alone, Mama, I’m hungry, I’m thirsty and I’m wounded.’ And then the pleas fell silent. Their bodies were recovered a week later after Israel had denied any wrongdoing.
Once we turn away from injustice we turn away from our humanity and from ourselves. Justice belongs to Nadim and Muhammad; to the three Israeli teenagers; to the 7 World Central Kitchen aid workers killed in a drone attack in April, 2024; to the 15 aid workers of the Palestine Red Crescent Society, civil defense and the UN on a rescue mission when they were attacked by the IDF in March, 2025 and whose bodies were recovered a week later from a mass grave after an attempted cover-up by the IDF; to the 76,000+; to all innocent victims of this conflict; to the ongoing survivors of this slaughter and to a 5-year-old whose only ‘crime’ was to be a Palestinian. Are you going to turn away!
