Painting of the Reservoir at Bellara to reflect the Island

Painting of the Reservoir at Bellara to reflect the Island
The Issue
We, the undersigned, are passionate about the preservation and enhancement of our community’s natural beauty.
We are requesting that the large Unitywater reservoir at Bellara and the entrance to Banksia Beach be painted in a way that reflects our community’s spirit and enhances the overall aesthetic of the area.
The current appearance of the reservoir, with its large, unadorned concrete surface, significantly detracts from our community and the natural beauty of the area.
This structure, which serve as a prominent feature in Bellara and the entrance to Banksia Beach, has the potential to be transformed into a work of art that celebrates the natural beauty of our island.
We propose that the reservoir be painted with a mural that highlights the unique beauty of the Pumicestone Passage and Island, or with a design that embodies the spirit of our community.
Additionally, we suggest that this transformation be paired with the strategic planting of screening trees, which would help soften the visual impact of the structure from the main road and integrate it better into the environment.
A well-executed mural or artistic design, combined with landscaping, would not only improve the visual appeal of Bribie Island but would also symbolise our collective pride in this beautiful corner of the world.
This change would serve as a positive step forward in preserving and enhancing the natural charm that makes Bribie Island such a wonderful place to live and visit.
We urge you to support this initiative and make this structure the next addition to your Art Trail Project, completing it before the end of 2026.
Thank you for your time and consideration.
Yours Sincerely,
Karl Smith
