PLEASE READ ALL BELOW REGARDING UPDATE ON MORE LEGAL TRAILS IN PA!
As you all know, Senate Bill #648 MUST pass or we are dead in the water in obtaining more legal trails in PA. The bill has moved along swiftly and successfully thus far, but we still have a little ways to go before it can be signed by the Governor. (Senate Bill #648 is to seperate ATV and Snowmobile funds so ATV money can be used for ATV trails etc). The CURRENT status of Sentate Bill #648 is that it is sitting in the Tourism & Recreational Development Committee to be voted on. Many things can happen at this point. It can be passed by them and go on to be passed by the entire Senate then on to the Governor for his signature or seal of approval (this is ideally what we want to happen), or the Tourism & Recreational Development Committee can change the Bill/amend the Bill. If they change/amend the Bill then the process will have to somewhat start all over again....the Bill would have to go back to the Senate for the Senate to concur then back to the Tourism & Recreational Development Committee to be voted on again. Its a long process but WE can help shorten this process by doing OUR part and BOMBARD THE HECK OUT OF THE TOURISM & RECREATIONAL DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE OFFICE WITH LETTERS OF SUPPORT TO SENATE BILL #648! WE CAN'T STOP NOW.....IF WE CAN GET THE Tourism & Recreational Development Committee TO VOTE YES WITH NO AMENDMENTS WE ARE GOOD TO GO! WE HAVE TO ACT NOW AND SEND IN LETTERS TO THE Tourism & Recreational Development Committee NOW! NOT NEXT WEEK, NOT THE WEEK AFTER, NOW!
Right now, they are working on getting the budget in PA passed but I feel we have about 3-4 weeks to get our letters in. If you would like to follow the updates and process of Senate Bill #648 yourself, click on link below then click on "history":

Dear Hon. David Hickernell:
I am writing to you to ask that you support Senate Bill # 648. With over 190,000 registered ATV’s in Pennsylvania and only 250 miles of legal trails on state land it is vital our voices be heard to separate the registration fees, etc. from snowmobiles and ATVs. The number of trail miles on public land for snowmobiles outnumbers those for ATVs by a 10-1 ratio! I am respectfully asking for fairness and accountability to the collection and distribution of funds I pay for ATV riding opportunities in the Commonwealth. Keeping the snowmobile and ATV funds separated will help ensure this will happen.
As one of your constituents, I am asking you to help ATV enthusiasts in promoting, developing, and coordinating education programs pertaining to safe and responsible four wheeling. This will help lead the Pennsylvania Senate Community, Economic & Recreational Development Committee in the fight to create jobs by developing a trail system in Pennsylvania similar to the Hatfield McCoy Trail System in West Virginia. The Hatfield McCoy System in West Virginia generates a whopping $24 million per year and Pennsylvania can benefit greatly by creating a similar system here!
I appreciate your help and ask that you please send me a response letting me know if you are able to help in gaining more legal trails in Pennsylvania for ATV enthusiasts to enjoy. Thank you for your time and considering my request!
Sincerely,
