Pa Hunters Against the introduction of a “New” Early Season

This petition is to address the following and will be presented to the PGC Game Commissioners.

The collective signatures are in agreement:

1.      No “Early” Flintlock Season is needed in the State of Pa.

     a.      One of the premises of the Early Season advocates is to encourage                new hunters.

     b.      Time of year will have minimal impact on new hunters.

     c.      The issue is a lack of mentoring by older sportsmen. Growth should                be sustained by a mentorship program at some level.

2.      The addition of any other type of firearm would violate the true                     reason. As to why the “Late” Flintlock Season was created.

     a.      Inline and Cap Locks are not considered in the same class as a                       Flintlock due to their ignition system.

     b.      There is a general black powder season where these ignition                          systems can be used.

3.      The addition of Centerfire Weapons during the “Late” Flintlock Season           shall cease.

We are asking the Commissioners to protect the season which has been established to honor our gun building heritage and woodsmanship traditions.

Sign the petition as an effort to show the PGC we are willing to stand together to keep the current Pa Late Season Flintlock as it was created.
