Overturn Tonya Monroe's Wrongful Conviction

Overturn Tonya Monroe's Wrongful Conviction
The Issue
My best friend, Tonya Monroe, has been through unimaginable pain. She lost her beloved baby grandson to a terminal illness, a heartbreak that no family should endure. As Tonya was already grappling with this profound loss, the unthinkable happened: she was accused and subsequently convicted of her grandson's death, a crime she did not commit, and is not even capable of committing. She was sentenced to life without parole plus 50 years. Let that sink in for a minute.... this sentence for a crime that was never even committed.
Countless injustices occurred throughout Tonya's trial. Here are a few of the highlights:
-Unscientifically sound forensic evidence.
-Incentivized witness testimony
-Multiple purjored witness testimony by State's witnesses
-Multiple violations of due process
-Extreme bias by the Prosecutor and the Judge
-Prosecutorial misconduct
Statistics indicate that wrongful convictions occur more frequently than we might assume, with estimates suggesting that in the U.S., around 1% of all prisoners are wrongfully convicted - that's tens of thousands of people. Cases like Tonya's highlight systemic issues within the judicial system that urgently require addressing to prevent other innocent people from suffering similar fates.
We propose a full reassessment of Tonya's case by an independent review team. By reinvestigating all evidence and testimonies with fresh eyes, we stand a chance to uncover the truth and correct this miscarriage of justice.
Your signature on this petition can help press for action. We believe in a fair system that corrects its wrongs and protects its innocent. Help us bring Tonya home by signing this petition today.
