To the world this man may be one person but to us he is the world. In 1999, he plead guilty to Criminal Sex Conduct-4th Degree after being mislead by his public defender. At the time of this alleged offense, he was 17 years old (the alleged victim was 19 years old.) He was young, didn’t know much about the criminal / legal system and thought he could trust this person to look out for his best interest. Later he found out that wasn’t the case, he found a letter that the alleged victim had met with an investagor for the public defenders office and also wrote a letter prior to his guilty plea stating what he already knew (the sex was consensual). His public defender still recommended that he plead guilty. This ineffective counsel has ruined this man’s life.  For the last 20 years this man has had to be labeled a “sex offender”. He has also been harassed and discriminated against by Minnesota Department of Corrections as a result of this case as well. I will save you the long drawn out version as many won’t believe what this man has gone thru in these past years just by my explaining it but we do have the paper trails and voice recordings to back everything up that he has dealt with since. After all this man has gone thru in the past 20+ years, all we are asking is for real justice to be served so he can be home with the family he has left.
