The Issue

Flock Cameras 📷: San Antonio — this is bigger than left vs. right, Republican vs. Democrat, or whatever political opinions we disagree on.

Put politics aside for this one.

Flock cameras and automated license-plate readers are spreading across our city. Regardless of why they were originally installed, we need to have a serious conversation about how much surveillance we are willing to accept, who has access to the data, how long it is stored, and what safeguards exist against abuse.

Today it may be presented as a tool for fighting crime. But surveillance infrastructure doesn’t disappear once it’s built — and the people controlling it today won’t necessarily be the people controlling it tomorrow.

This isn’t about being anti-police.
This isn’t about protecting criminals.
It’s about protecting the privacy and freedom of ordinary Americans.

We should not wait until a mass-surveillance system is already built around us before asking whether we went too far.

If you live in San Antonio or care about where this technology is heading, please sign my petition and share it.

Read it. Research Flock cameras yourself. Make your own decision.

But don’t ignore it because of politics.

🇺🇸 Privacy is not a left-wing issue or a right-wing issue. It’s an American issue.
