Well, to date, our Public Safety crisis remains just as critical as it was a year ago!  Governor DeSantis ultimately refused to help save lives in Escambia County and threw our petition and the solution back into the laps of the commissioners; the same branch of government that created this very mess.  We have had 2 new commissioners elected in and still no prioritization of resolving this crisis.  One of the newly elected commissioners went straight to the Vice-Chairman seat.  The Escambia County residents and all of the visiting souls need your help!!!  Please sign this petition to our 5 County Commissioners as we re-route our public plea for help.  

THE PETITION:

Our Public Safety is in Critical Condition! And We Demand Justice!
For far too many years the Escambia County Citizens have been under the oppression of more than one Commission Board.  We have suffered loss after loss, and we have been forced to live with the fear that Emergency Help may never come.  Our Public Safety Departments have been so under-funded and under-managed that Escambia County has suffered a continual “Mass Exodus” of First Responders. Our Emergency Responders report to work each time knowing their limitations, the greater risk, and the higher probability of loss. The aged and overextended rescue vehicles and equipment, on top of the manpower shortages, have not been the priority focus or spending of our tax dollars in this County.  All the while the obvious grief is stacked on top of the personal, physical, and mental anguish that each rescue worker and their comrades face every hour of every day.

There are some days that a victim’s Emergency call is met with hours of waiting for Emergency help.  Then, the available rescue vehicle and crew, that arrived on the scene first, will be held over waiting for the ambulance to get there and to release them so that they, such as the Firefighters, can respond to their next Emergency call -that has already been waiting.  All of this is so crucial when seconds are everything! 
The risk to everyone grows greater, the problems compile, and the backlog creates confusion.  The Dispatch Operator that originated the rescue response has to help console the repeated calls and suffering while balancing their own emotions in the overwhelm.
And no human can be pushed so hard and stretched so thin and not be negatively affected by it all!  
This is cruelty that has been inflicted on All of Us by way of a majority rule and influence within our present and former Board of County Commissioners.  
  
As of today, we are hearing: “holding ambulances” “multiple calls holding now”  (All while lives are hanging in the balance.)  

Wait a minute! We were given, by Our God Almighty, a commandment and a right to Live, Love, and to Serve one another.  The Escambia County Citizens should have never been so oppressed by any Board of County Commissioners!  To date, everyone is suffering the years of each of the failed Commissions and their lack of oversight regarding some of the dept. leaderships.  And the most precious of all, Our Emergency Responders, report to work each time, to Serve Others and to Save, no matter the disregard and disrespect that they have been shown by the Escambia BOCC, year upon year.
  
The Escambia County Citizens Demand Humanity, Adequacy, and Compliance from the Escambia County BOCC.  And WE WILL PREVAIL!  

After several attempts to get Governor DeSantis’ attention to this crisis, each one returned unaddressed.  I am basically directed to talk to the County Commission Board about it.  I did that first, back in 2019, and so have many other alarmed Citizens over the years.

*We need all of the signatures we can get on this petition because, IT IS TIME for Governor DeSantis to exercise his authority over this neglect and cruelty.  We want a thorough investigation conducted, starting with the Commissioners and how they have continually mismanaged Our money and abused Our Emergency Responders.  And to whom or where else was our security invested?  We want a resolution for each falter and a recompense for each abandonment.  Lives & Sanity Depend on Our Voices!
