Have Our Lady Seat of Wisdom expel students not following Covid-19 protocols
The Issue
Since September 2020 when school was back starting up a new semester, there has been nothing but issues with Our Lady Seat of Wisdom Academy students. They have refused to wear masks in local businesses during mandatory masking throughout the Provence and have been making local businesses and community members uneasy to the baseless claims about how “it’s just a flu”, “masks don’t work” etc. We have all had to change our lifestyles to meet the demands of covid-19 protocols set in place by the provincial and federal governments. Acting President of the Academy Dr Christine Schintgen has said and I quote “ At Our Lady Seat of Wisdom College we do our best to enforce all the COVID-19 protocols on campus. We also strongly encourage our students to obey all civil laws and protocols while off-campus. However, our students are adults and we cannot take responsibility for their choices and actions off campus. That is up to civil authorities. I have no problem with you sharing your photos with the media.”(this quote was taken from the Madawaska Valley Current). So this leads me to my next question. If one of these students did something bad off campus, was arrested and sent home until a court appearance, would the school not do anything because it was “off-campus”. We can’t let them continue to get away with this. The Academy has had many chances to rectify multiple situations in the community that has to do with their students and anti-masking or other covid-19 related situations. I’m calling on the public to sign this petition to have the students involved in the anti-masking and anti-lockdown protests expelled from Our Lady Seat of Wisdom and to be held accountable for their actions since they did not notify the proper authorities to be able to have a protest in the first place. What happens if one of these students gets Covid-19 and decides to ignore the mandatory quarantine measures, goes out into the public without a mask and spreads the virus because the think it’s “just a flu”? We need to keep our community healthy and safe and protect our hospital from being overwhelmed
