Ottawa City Council added pollinator protection to the terms of reference for the Environment Protection, Water & Waste management committee last week. I believe this will create a Pollinator pathway all the way to Bee City!! Special thanks to Councillor Egli for bringing this motion forward!!
A report will go before the April 16 committee meeting about the feasibility of fulfilling the three commitments under the program.
1. Increase and maintain pollinator habitat (who doesn't love more parks and greenspaces?)
2. Educate the public about benefits of pollinators and the risks to their health and ours (This will happen outside too - see point 1)
3. Celebrate pollinators (who doesn't love all the benefits we get from trees, greenspaces and pollinators? Big photo op too)
Happy World Wildlife Day!!
