Orange County Poverty Alleviation Coalition
Feb 25, 2018
A month ago, the County of Orange began displacing the largest homeless encampment in Orange County from the Santa Ana Riverbed. Civil rights attorneys--Carol Sobel, Cathy Sweetser, and Brooke Weitzman--filed a lawsuit, and a federal judge agreed with the plaintiffs: the County cannot give homeless people nowhere to go but insist that it is illegal to stay. The County has placed over seven hundred people into motels and shelter. Our organization, Orange County Poverty Alleviation Coalition, will continue to mobilize people and resources to follow the former Riverbed community and meet their needs. Please follow us on Facebook for further updates. Thank you for your support.
