Java Control Panel now has option to disable AskToolbar installation

Dec 12, 2014 — The new version of Java allows disabling of 3rd part software installation prompts. To do that, go to Java Control Panel, click on "Advance" tab and select "Suppress sponsor offers when installing or updating Java" checkbox.

This option was added as of Java 7 Update 65 (7u65) and Java 8 Update 11 (8u11). You can read more about it here: http://www.java.com/en/download/faq/disable_offers.xml

While this is an improvement, it is not enough. The option to install AskToolbar should not be selected by default in the installation wizard. Oracle should not bundle 3rd party software with Java at all. This is damaging to reputation of Java. We will not stop untill Oracle abandons this practice.
