Under pressure from this petition, Oracle makes a small change in their Java installer. It now presents the users with an additional check box warning that the default search provider will be changed. Previously there was no indication at all that the installation would perform such intrusive modification. While this is a small victory, unfortunately the check box is still checked on by default and easy to miss. We will continue to pressure Oracle to discontinue this practice.
