OR Rep. Dennis Richardson: Arming teachers with concealed weapons is not the answer

The Issue

In the wake of the Sandy Hook Elementary tragedy our nation needs to have a real discussion about gun control reform and access to mental health resources. Please tell Rep. Richardson his proposal to add more guns to already deadly situations by arming 2-3 people in each school with concealed handguns is not the answer.

“Although responding to a mass murderer intent on killing children and teachers is seems reprehensible, so does allowing psychopaths to have free rein to kill as many innocent people as he can before committing suicide. My suggestion of allowing 2-3 trained individuals on every campus has flaws, but at least I am suggesting something other than passively allowing our children and educators to be targets with no ability to respond and, hopefully, stop the slaughter.
