The purpose of this petition is to generate an opportunity for comment from the community for this DRAFT Legislation intended to Optimize Recruitment, Selection, Performance Management, Training for Police in New York State.

This DRAFT legislation declares that it is altogether fitting and proper, and within the public interest, to establish a program(s) designed to rekindle trust in the communities where it has faded and to strengthen in those communities where it exists, that sense of mutual trust and commitment between residents and law enforcement officers that is so crucial to the public interest and community well-being. By the rekindling of trust, the intent is to support the State of New York in an effort to increase recruitment of African American men and women.
