Oppose Wellness Ridge CDD expansion

Oppose Wellness Ridge CDD expansion
The Issue
I have witnessed the impact of community development districts firsthand in our area. Many of my neighbors have had to leave their homes because they simply couldn’t afford the costs associated with these districts. It’s a painful situation when community members you’ve formed bonds with, and who have contributed to the vibrancy of our neighborhood, are forced out due to financial pressures.
On April 14th, at 3 PM, there will be a critical discussion at City Hall concerning item 13 on the agenda. This discussion involves the proposed expansion of the Wellness Ridge Community Development District, a move primarily favoring Lennar Homes. Lennar Homes, a major development company, stands to reap a financial windfall amounting to $26 million from this expansion.
While the company stands to benefit substantially, it is the residents of our community who will bear the brunt of this decision. The increased financial burden that comes with this expansion could make living in our community less affordable for many families. The CDD fees often add an extra layer of costs that can make homeownership out of reach for some, leading to strain and eventual displacement of residents.
Our community should be a place where families can grow and contribute to an inclusive and thriving environment, not one where they are priced out to accommodate big business profits. The preservation of our diverse and close-knit community is of utmost importance.
I urge everyone concerned about the future of our neighborhood and the potential impact on our community's diversity and economic stability to attend the meeting and voice your strong opposition. It is crucial to make it clear that the expansion is not in the best interest of the residents and that our community's wellbeing should be prioritized over corporate gain.
Please sign this petition to stand against the expansion of the Wellness Ridge CDD and support the maintenance of an affordable and inclusive community for us all. Together, we can protect our homes and preserve the integrity of our community.
