Friends,

We need your help.

  • Serious assaults in Vancouver have gone up 36%.
  • Broken windows have gone up 40%.
  • Criminal activity is so bad that 40% of non-emergency calls go unanswered.
  • Recently many Councillors voted against the $5.7M in public safety funding only to have the BC Government overrule them.
  • Many Supportive Housing sites each see more than 1,000 emergency vehicle team responses annually due to inadequate consultation and uncompassionate planning.

Earlier today on CBC, 8:10 am with Quinn, the Mayor of our major metropolitan city put out an ask to "anyone who believes our police make them feel unsafe" to call in to tonight's first ever forum on Public Safety. He wants to make it a numbers game versus actually hearing the voice and concerns of his residents.

Here is clip…we suggest you give it a listen from about 7:30 onward.

Please consider signing up yourself as IN FAVOUR of this forum and to echo the real issues facing us and our cities' most vulnerable. Help bring children, seniors, the disabled, unhoused women-led families to the forefront of the discussion.

Sign up BEFORE 5 PM today. Register in SUPPORT of the Forum on Public Safety with this link.

The likelihood is most speakers won't be called on to speak until tomorrow.

We recommend you bring to light how the changes to public safety in our city have affected you and your loved ones personally.

Thank you kindly,

Charlene and Parents for Thoughtful City Planning
