Aberdeen city council has said they are to close 6 city libraries- many in “deprived” areas. Surely these areas will only be further “deprived” by the closure of much needed local access to books, research and IT facilities?!
This petition is to voice our disagreement over the closure of, in particular, Northfield library - you cannot possibly expect increased footfall when it only reopened TWO days a week after covid restrictions lifted to a level that allowed it to reopen.
Since then it has had school class visits by local schools and remains a vital lifeline of IT access as well as the much needed accesses to  a variety of reading material not available to household budgets.
There are many in this community not able to travel to even the next nearest library for these resources without paying for transport and this vital community link has never been more important to save!
