The issue

Our beloved coastal town of Woy Woy is facing a potential upheaval that could irreversibly change its character and strain its resources. The planned development of a 140/16 storey high-rise housing at 42-48 Railway St threatens to overwhelm our community, raising concerns about the sustainability and suitability of such a project in our cherished environment.

Woy Woy, a serene haven known for its unspoiled landscapes and tranquil lifestyle, cannot cope with the projected surge in residents that this development would bring. Our area's infrastructure is already stretched to its limits. Local healthcare services, including the availability of doctors and hospitals, are critically overburdened. Emergency services are struggling to keep pace with current demands, and an influx of new residents would only exacerbate these issues.

Moreover, our essential services like drainage and water supply are ill-equipped to handle the increased load. The roads are already in poor condition, with no guttering and numerous troublesome potholes that go unrepaired, and adding to the congestion with more cars would turn our already bottle-necked access routes into nightmares.

This development would not just squeeze our resources; it would mar the aesthetic integrity of Woy Woy. Our town is celebrated for its coastal charm, yet this massive high-rise would stand as a sore blister against our skyline, misaligned with the low-key architectural beauty we treasure.

In safeguarding the essence of Woy Woy, it is critical that we rally against this development. We need to preserve the character, health, and functionality of our community infrastructure. Please join us in opposing this high-rise project to protect the unique soul of our town and ensure its longevity for future generations.
