Oppose the Conversion of Tennis Courts to Pickleball Courts in Cole Park, Dallas

Oppose the Conversion of Tennis Courts to Pickleball Courts in Cole Park, Dallas
The Issue
I am a resident living near Cole Park, Dallas and an active tennis player. I frequent the park's tennis courts up to four times a week, at various times from early morning until late into the evening. It is not uncommon for me and other tennis enthusiasts to wait up to an hour for a court to become available due to high demand.
In contrast, pickleball players rarely wait more than 10-15 minutes for their turn. While it's great that pickleball is gaining popularity, it should not come at the expense of other sports' resources.
The proposed conversion of our beloved tennis courts into pickleball courts would significantly reduce access for hundreds of local tennis players like myself who rely on these facilities. This decision seems unfair given that we already face long waiting times while pickleballers do not.
We understand that city planners are trying to accommodate everyone's interests but this should be done in a way that does not disproportionately disadvantage any group. We propose instead expanding sporting facilities or finding alternative locations suitable for pickleball without infringing on existing amenities.
Let us preserve our community’s access to diverse recreational opportunities and ensure fair allocation of public resources. Please sign this petition if you believe in maintaining our local tennis courts as they are and oppose their conversion into pickleball courts.
