The Issue

Living and running a business in the small town of Woodburn, Indiana, has been a joy for my family and me. We treasure the quiet neighborhoods, a close-knit community feel, and the safety that comes from living in such a serene environment. Our Sundays are marked by peaceful gatherings at our local church, where friends and neighbors come together to celebrate our shared values. However, this peaceful existence is at risk of being overshadowed by the proposed Speedway truck stop right next to the existing Love’s truck stop.

The Love’s truck stop already brings its own set of challenges to our community. We’ve seen an increase in traffic-related incidents, a rise in road rage, and even darker issues like drug deals and prostitution right in the vicinity. The increased congestion has already pushed our town to introduce a four-way stop as a mitigating measure. Can you imagine the nightmare of adding another truck stop across the street?

Building another truck stop will exacerbate existing issues. The peaceful countryside living we have loved and cherished will be further disrupted, turning our small town into a bustling hub of transient traffic. It’s not just about traffic; it’s about the safety and well-being of our community members who pride themselves in living away from the city's hustle and bustle.

We need to prioritize the quality of life for Woodburn residents who seek solace in the country, free from the increased noise, pollution, and crime that another facility like this will inevitably bring. It's vital to protect our community's unique character and ensure it's a place where future generations can grow up in peace.

Join us in opposing the establishment of a new Speedway truck stop in Woodburn. Let's stand together to preserve our community's integrity and our safety. Sign this petition to make your voice heard and protect our town from unnecessary risks and disturbances.
