The Issue

My family farm, nestled on County Road 154 in Eastland County, Texas, has been a part of my family's legacy for generations. It's more than just land to us; it's a cherished part of our family heritage. We've dreamed of passing this beautiful piece of the earth down to our children and grandchildren, preserving our legacy and continuing our dreams for generations to come. Recently, we've  built onto my parents farmhouse on this land, planning our retirement where our roots are firmly planted.

However, our dreams are under threat. Samsung is in the process of negotiating and signing land lease agreements for a foreign solar farm in our region. This development stretches between Cisco and Eastland on HWY 6, HWY 183 out of Cisco, and down to County Road 154, right up to our property line. The impact on our family farm could be devastating, disrupting not just our land, but the very fabric of our family's long-standing connection to it.

This isn't just an isolated issue for our family; it's an issue that affects our entire community. The proposed solar farm could lead to significant changes in land use, potentially impacting local agriculture, wildlife, and the community's natural resources. We must protect our rural environment and preserve the character of our cherished Eastland County.

Furthermore, this project raises questions about the transparency of the negotiation process. Have local community members been adequately informed and allowed to voice their concerns? Are there comprehensive impact assessments considering the environmental, social, and economic implications of such a project on our local communities?

We believe in sustainable energy development, but it must be pursued in a way that respects local communities and environments. There are alternative locations and methods that could be more suitable, and solutions must involve genuine consultation with the local population.

We urge the local government and Samsung to reconsider the location of this solar farm, taking into account the concerns of the real people who live and work on this land. Please join us in opposing the current proposal for this foreign solar farm in Eastland County, Texas, and sign our petition to protect our farms, our homes, and our heritage.
