We are in opposition to the proposed Gymnasium to be built at 909 Wellington Street Strathfieldsaye with ingress from Uxbridge Street Strathfieldsaye. We the undersigned ask that the Bendigo Councillors reject this planning proposal in its current form. 

This proposal sets a precedent for building styles in Strathfieldsaye that are in direct opposition to the Strathfieldsaye Town Centre Urban Design Framework, February 2017, that was established with community consultation. This document is available from the City of Greater Bendigo website. 

This document outlines the vision of a town centre that is a village and a place to meet, with tree lined streets and pedestrian ways. It should provide high quality buildings that activate streetscapes and provide good amenity including verandahs. 

If this style of building is allowed to proceed, it then sets a precedent for other developers to build similar cheap cost effective tilt slab constructions that will make Strathfieldsaye Town Centre look more like an Enterprise Park.
