Position Paper-Part 2

Water Pollution-

The lives of approximately 100 families are directly dependent upon access to safe water through their wells. Our area is one that has a high water table and wells as shallow as 90’. The Environmental Protection Industry encourages those with wells to actively identify potential sources of contamination in their community.  This specifically includes finding out about proposed facilities that may pollute their drinking water.  We are emphatically stating that this rezoning and annexation exposes us to the potential of contaminated drinking water. Poisoning the water and our wells could have devastating environmental and human effects. 

Traffic Safety -

The intersection of Route 20 and Higgins Road was not designed to support truck traffic. The incline and approximate 45% turning angle when heading south make navigating this intersection difficult for cars and very concerning when cars and trucks are both trying to navigate the intersection.  With an average of 5400 vehicles driving on Route 20 each day we believe that approving the rezoning and annexation of this parcel would significantly increase the risk to all drivers.
